ABOUT

KINDNESS LIVES HERE: resources for living a kinder life

this component of the website WAS BORN OUT OF MY OWN INTEREST AND DESIRE TO LIVE IN A KINDER WORLD.

The search

So what is important in this life? What to focus on? What to put at the centre? What to build your life around? Having a sense that I have a choice about this seems like a huge responsibility. With so many religions,  philosophies, self help books and advice, it's easy to get confused, lost and overwhelmed. Which, if you're like me, leads to just not really doing anything but feeling stuck.    .

So how does it work?

Well no bells and whistles. It's all about practicality. The provision of information, inspiration, and instruction on the HOW, WHAT, WHEN and WHY of living with more kindness.

You'll find the website divided into different sections covering: the science of kindness, philosophy of kindness and information on how to incorporate kindness into everyday living.

And if you need more convincing :

Kindness is a condition for human flourishing

"From the moment of our birth we are dependant on other's kindness" "In the absence of kindness we suffer, and in it's presence we flourish'  Stephanie Dowrick

Being kind boosts happiness

"We have found that almost any act of Kindness boosts happiness" Sonja Lyubomirsky Author of The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to getting the life you want

See the Science of Kindness page on this site.

It is simple and practical

"This is my simple religion, there is no need for temples, no need for complicated philosophy, our own brain, our own heart is our temple- the philosophy is kindness"  Dali Lama

See the how to page on this site link below

Engaging in the world with courageous and wise kindness can lead to a vibrant and meaningful life.

When you look back over your life at the end of it, what will be the most important thing? What will you wish you did more or less of?

"When I was young I used to admire intelligent people, as I grow older I admire kind people" Albert Einstein

Kindness connects us to others

Finding fresh ways each day to express our thoughtfulness or kindness deepens our engagement with other people. It makes other people's lives more real to us. It throws us more deeply into life. It certainly saves us from helplessness and self pity. It brings beauty and it is beauty." Stephanie Dowrick from Everyday Kindness
