Nina Mekisic is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a background in working with adults, teens, children and families.

Nina takes a holistic approach to therapy that takes into account the link between body, mind and environment. She works from the foundation of establishing a therapeutic relationship with you that is respectful, kind and collaborative. She will work with you to set goals for therapy that align with your values and the outcomes that you are seeking. Nina’s focus is to provide you with practical strategies and tools which fit your particular circumstances.

Nina is inspired by witnessing how addressing current challenges within ourselves and our relationships, can lead to healing and growth beyond our experiences of adversity and trauma.

In sessions, Nina’s utilises her training in a number of therapeutic approaches such as DBT, ACT, narrative therapy and the Gottman Method of relationship therapy.   She also draws from the specific training that she has completed in working with trauma, including; training with the Australian Childhood Foundation, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Dan Siegel and Kent Hoffman.

She has completed 3 years of training in Somatic Experiencing which is a pioneering body awareness based approach to healing trauma.

Nina holds a Masters level training in supervision and has worked in roles consulting with schools and other organisations such as the Australian Centre for Social Innovation.


  • Sessions are generally 50 minutes in duration unless otherwise arranged and specified.

  • Medicare rebates are available with a Mental health care plan from your GP

  • Consulting work is negotiated on a case by case basis.

  • Sessions are available through the Adelaide Trauma Centre at 29 Regent Street North, Adelaide City (on Tuesdays).
