Improve your mental health
In treating anxiety and depression I use evidence-based therapies that are tried and tested through years of research. I primarily use modern cognitive behavioural therapies which have the highest success rate for treating anxiety and depression.
My particular passions include:
Coaching people in the tools that they need to overcome experiences of trauma and adversity in their lives
Supporting people to build their skills and confidence in managing big emotions.
Working with issues that impact our relationships and managing problems that show up in relationships.
These therapies include;
Acceptance and commitment therapy, which has a focus on coaching people to live a meaningful life and overcoming the life-draining effects of having anxiety and depression rule your life.
Dialectical behavioural therapy can improve people's ability to manage big emotions and help them to overcome their challenges with interpersonal relationships.
Body inclusive psychotherapies - drawing from yoga, work with the breath, and sensorimotor psychotherapy.
Trauma counselling
A lot of us think that we should just be able to 'get over' difficult experiences and we aim to move past them focusing on the present and the future. However, we may find that certain experiences seem to stick with us in the form of nightmares, intrusive thoughts or memories, and overwhelming emotional or physiological responses. We may also be experiencing more ingrained patterns of behaviour and vulnerabilities that we can observe are unhealthy, but then don't seem to be able to change or alter no matter how hard we try.
Adverse experiences, especially adverse experiences during childhood, can have a significant impact on our lives and wellbeing (you can read more about this here: adverse childhood events).
The good news is that as research in child development, interpersonal neurobiology, and human resilience grows we are expanding what we know about post-traumatic growth and resilience.
If you are struggling with some of the above symptoms there are ways that you can improve your quality of life, health, and wellbeing through body-inclusive psychotherapy. Relationship counselling
Having healthy and thriving relationships with those that we care about has the power to greatly improve our resilience and ability to navigate the challenges that life throws at us, at the same time our relationships can be a source of our greatest suffering and confusion.
I often see couples who are suffering greatly and I'm passionate about offering them a way to cultivate a relationship that more closely aligns with their deepest hopes for themselves and each other. I use the Gottman method in my relationship therapy practice, which is an evidence-based therapy developed over a 30-year span. This style will suit you if you like to have clear tools and strategies to apply, if you like to have a road map for your progress and if you want to get the maximum joy out of your most important relationships. This therapy will help you not only with your intimate partner, but will give you tools to apply to all of your significant relationships; be that family, friends, or work colleagues.
